Provisional results after protest – first day
Provisional results
So first provisional results after 3 races today.
We had all kinds of weather conditions today, we started with a fog and hard ice and ended with clear air and water on ice.
World Championships: Day 1 report
Good evening. We are just off the ice. This is Deb Whitehorse here. Jorge has been so kind as to give me the keys to the website in order to give you a short report of today’s racing. Provisional results are coming if they haven’t already been posted.
The day started out rather gloomy and foggy as you can see by the photo of the skipper’s meeting below. The PROs Henny and Dann announced that racing would begin at 10:00. There was quite a bit of pushing to get out to the course but once all boats arrived, the fog floated away and was replaced with some nice wind. The ice became wetter by the hour and we all have wet feet tonight.
Racing went off very fast even with a few course changes because of shifting wind. The best line of the day was when Christian Seegers, speaking as a father, said “this is what we hope for” when he learned of the result of Argo Vooremaa C36 winning a race in which he beat his father, Vaiko, C6.
There are a couple of protest hearings tonight but today’s racing went safely and well. Winners of today include P114, C6, C36 for the A fleet.
In B fleet, C23,P154 each won a race. I headed back home during the last B race so I didn’t see the results. OE221 won the first C race.
Stand by today’s provisional results.

World and European Championship 2016 Update 5
Dear Friends
As mentioned yesteday everything is possible. Last evening the Puk Bay got hit by quite a lot of wet snow. It is being checked again at this Moment but it is not likely at this moment that we will sail there.
At this Moments Icescouts are on their way in Sweden, Lithuania and Hungary. I’ll keep you posted about the Progress we make during the day. We got positive Reports that are just doublechecked.
Be assured we are carefully checking all places before we go anywhere. Therefore do not expect an early decision. Be patient, positive and stay tuned. I don’t want to delay the Regatta right now. If for any reason (travel distance for some of you) we have to, we will. For now I hope to tell you until tonight, where we’ll be travelling to.
Thank you and see you very soon!

World and European Championship 2016 Update 4
Dear Friends,
if we had to make the decision today it would be for Poland. The decision will also depend on if and how much snow Poland receives tomorrow. Currently the best place would be Puck Bay North of Gdynia (North of Gdansk)
Be aware, before you start travelling, with the weather situation we have now, anything is possible!!!
I will have more news tomorrow.
Looking forward to a good regatta!

World and European Championship 2016 Update 3
Dear Friends
Too many days to the next Weekend to announce anything. Our current main focus is on Poland and Sweden. Depending on the outcome of the snow predictions for tomorrow and Wednesday the current situation may change overnight! At least we are lucky and have areas with ice and no snow in the forcast (e.g. lake Glan in Sweden).
Today we received several Reports from Vistula Lagoon (Krynica Morska) and Wladyslawowo/Puck. Also from Lake Glan in Sweden and the Stockholm area.
Niklas will be out on the ice tomorrow in Kadiny (Vistula Lagoon) and check it. Attila startet today as well and is tonight in Zegrze. Both are checking ice tomorrow and Wednesday in Poland. I’m about to leave for Sweden to verify the Reports from there.
We are aware that many of us rely on ferries that are cruising not every day. For the Swedes the last ferry from Stockholm to Gdansk departs Wednesday evening and for the Poles including the PRC the last one from Gdansk leaves Thursday evening. There is another Ferry from Karlskrona as well and even a journey around past Denmark is not too bad both ways (southern Sweden or Gdansk). It even saves time in comparisson to the Ferry. A decision before Thursday is not likely! Right now everything is possible!
Keep you posted!

World and European Championship Update 2
Dear friends,
currently forcasts vary a lot. Now warmer weather forcasted for racing week. Therefore I have to adjust the announcement from a few hours ago. We focus now on the Center of Poland (Zegrze and Vistula Lagoon) and Sweden. Just so you know plenty of snow around the Masurian Lakes in Poland does take those lakes currently out of consideration. There is still time for a decision. Don’t expect it before Thursday. For those travelling from distance we will close in on possible areas as soon we can. Keep you posted!

World and European Championship 2016 Update 1
Dear Friends
Less than a week to the Championship. It is to early to tell you where we will have strong ice, no or little snow and wind on January 24th (first racing day) and following.
But we can close in already a little!
The main Focus is currently on Poland and Germany. We are still waiting for reports from Denmark and Sweden as well. The Baltic States all got hit by lots of snow and are not considered any more. Austria is out too.
In the following days we are checking several other options that were reported. We have one Location in Poland, that has been sailed today and promises no further rain or snow. We are checking others in Poland in the first half of this week. In Germany the “Saaler Bodden” area has been sailed today too and defintely serves as a backup or perhaps more, depending on temperature development.
We will keep you informed about the latest here! Stay tuned and of course we’ll try to do the final call well before Friday, if possible.

REMINDER: MITROPA 2016
Dear Fellow Iceboaters!
It is just to remind you that next weekend (8-10 January 2016) is the date for the MITROPA TROPHY, which is organized by the Hungarian DN Class. The weather forecast is promising and we have already several spots here in Hungary for the event. Valence Lake has today 4-5 cm of smooth ice and according to the forecast next week it will be suitable and safe to organize the event. Wednesday I will travel to the Tisza Lake to check the conditions there. According to the information received for the local people they have 6-8 cm of black ice and there will be below -10 degC temperatures during the nights. I will keep you informed about the ice situation here in Hungary. The final decision about the site will be according the organization rules, i.e. on late Thursday.
Please make your entry on the official MITROPA site:
