Dear friends,

The last days the air temperature was not that cold as weather forecast predicted. Today some Austrian sailors checked the situation on site. Cause of cracks and water holes we’ve to cancel the planned regattas . The course is not large enough to have a competition there. We’re really sorry!

WC/EC 2018

Dear Fellow Iceboaters,

The weather does not spoil us this winter.  Juniors, as well as XV monotype sailors made extensive ice scouting and found that the Baltic States were the most suitable places for their championships. Though there are almost three weeks remained till the beginning of the DN WC/EC we should start collecting information for making the proper decision.

Unfortunately the ICEREPORTS section of our webpage is very obsolete. The latest and only post in this season is dated 18 December 2017.  :((

Please use this page and upload as many reports as you can to keep me informed about the situation throughout Europe. You can also e.mail me directly on address: commodore@idniyra.eu.

I will start my ice-scouting tour on 17th February. Any help in finding the most suitable place holding the 2018 DN WC/EC would be highly appreciated.

MITROPA – TROPHY 2018

Hopefully weather keeps the promise weatherforecast is giving us.

For lake Lipno the next week weather forecast is excellent. If the ice is growing how expected the Austrians will organize the Mitropa Trophy for next weekend. The final decision will be done on Thursday 08.02.2018 evening, 18:00. Please find the NOR as pdf-document attached.

Dear Iceboaters

Today I have received information from Rekyva Lake. It was foggy, so sailing was impossible. In that time some icesailors (Thank you Adam and Lukasz!) hade made the ice scouting.

You can see the ice structure and surface. You can also notice, that there are holes of the doble ice, still dangerous to sail. During the weekend they should freeze to safe places. The JWC Race Comitee will mark all the dangerowus places with flags on Monday morning. On lounching area there will be black or green flag exposed. There will be also the map of the lake with dangerus places indicated also.

Today I have received ice-condition information from Lithuania and Estonia. Considering the weather forecasts for these countries I made the decision: The JWC 2018 will take place in Siaulai/Lithuania on Rekyva Lake. Launching site in Siauliu Zalgirio Jachtklubas: 55.860221, 23.330187 on the east coast of the lake.

JWC 2018 – statement no. 1

Dear All

I imagine that all of you are waitnig for news about place of JWC/JEC 2018. We are all observing the weather predictions and ice-reports. At this moment we under the big impact of warm weather but luckilly it is going to stop and some frost is coming.

At this moment we can be sure, that Germany and Western Poland is out of board. Probably Masurian Lakes also, although Gizycko, Dargin Lake has still ice on top. Lithuania/Siaulai is promising, the same with Estonia. Now we need to be patient and wait and observe.

I am going to give 3 communiques, the last one 48 hours before the first warning signal.
