WC-EC 2022 Check-in & Training

WC-EC 2022 Check-in & Training

Dear Fellow Iceboaters,

The Regatta Check-in will be open tomorrow (19 February, Saturday) from 11:00 until 19.00 (local time) at the Race Office on the ground floor of Vilsta Sporthotell Eskilstuna.
Please bring your COVID Certificate as it will be checked by the Race Committee upon entry.

Sailors who did not upload insurance beforehand have to present their proof of insurance during the last hour of check-in where the Insurance Manager will be present.

Sailors with unsettled fees and/or who had been approved for Single Event Insurance will need to pay those fees in cash.

Since the regatta is sailed in a country different from the Primary Site, sailors from Sweden in good standing with national and IDNIYRA-Europe memberships are allowed to make a Late-Entry for a Regular fee.

Regatta Tracking and digital noticeboard will be available for the practice and racing days via the KWINDOO tracking app.

See you tomorrow!

WC/EC Location Update 2

WC/EC Location Update 2

Dear Fellow Icesailors,

It has become clear that there are no more possibilities either in Lithuania or in Estonia to sail the WC/EC.

Please be prepared to travel to Sweden. We are also going to be there by tomorrow evening and will check the possible site suggested by the Swedish team.

I will do the final site selection on Friday, but once you are in Sweden there should be no problem reaching the site on time.

Think Ice,

WC/EC 2022 Location Update

WC/EC 2022 Location Update

Dear Fellow Icesailors,

We started our icescouting tour with the question as usual: where to go?

We had some preliminary information from Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Sweden.

It had become clear quite soon that Poland was not an option, therefore we headed to the North.

Recently we are checking the possible spots in the Baltics and are waiting for further information from Finland and Sweden. It is early to say in which country we will be landing, so please be patient, the decision will come soon.

Think Ice,

Attila Pataky (M-100)

Clarification on the COVID Protocol 2022

Dear Fellow Icesailors,

I have heard rumors that some of our members are interpreting the IDNIYRA-EUROPE COVID-19 Protocol as not mandatory because it uses the word “should” instead of “must”.
Now I don’t want to start a debate about English grammar because this is not that platform. Rather, let’s look at what the intent was when this document was adopted.

We want to host safe events for all participants in an epidemiologically uncertain environment.
We can only do this if all participants are adequately protected against the COVID virus. And this is clearly a complete vaccination.

We require this, as in the case of an infection, it is very unlikely that anyone will get sick so severely that they will have to be hospitalized and consequently the local authorities will need to interrupt the event and everyone will be quarantined as a contact person.
That would be the situation that no icesailor would want.

That is why I ask everyone to keep the spirit of the COVID Protocol in mind and not to start hair-splitting.

To make it clear throughout the text, the phrase “should have” is to be understood as “must have”.

I apologize to everyone for the inconvenience.

Think Ice,

Attila Pataky (M-100)

WC/EC 2022 Entry

WC/EC 2022 Entry

Dear Fellow Icesailors,

First of all, I would like to wish you and your family a Happy, Prosperous and Joyful New Year with a lot of icesailing.

I would like to remind you that less than two weeks remain to the closing of the Regular Entry for the 2020 Gold Cup World DN Championship and DN European Championship.
It is my firm intention to sail the 2022 WC/EC, except if too strict restrictions make it impossible to do so. I strongly encourage every one of you to make the entry as soon as it is possible. In case of the event cancellation, we will naturally reimburse the entry fee.

For the time being, we do not intend to change our COVID Protocol. We can think of further measures (i.e. having certain kits of rapid test ready in case of suspicious symptoms), but in no case would we consider taking PCR test compulsory before or during the event. On the other hand, I would strongly support taking PCR tests before your departure (as it might be required for travel and accommodation).

The COVID Certificates will be checked at the event check-in.
To avoid congestion at the check-in we would like to process most of the administration paperless, online. As an example, I would draw your attention to the possibility of uploading your COVID Certificate to your profile on our website. This way we can check them beforehand and you’ll get through the check-in faster.

Thank You & Think Ice,

Attila Pataky (M-100)
Commodore
