Over the last few years we have seen a rise of appeals to protest cases come to us.
I think it is time to once again make clearer to sailors what we (EDNIA) really do:

Icescouting 2019

Dear Fellow Iceboaters!

This year we departed again on our journey in search of the best location to organize the European Championship.

Last week we have had some hope that we can stay on the ice of the Organizing Country. The ice on Tisza Reservoir had grown fast and reached 10 cm of thickness by Saturday. We had about 5 cm of light snow cover. Unfortunately, warm weather is expected and the ice stopped growing as well the light snow formed drifts that became slushy.

Thus on Sunday we decided to leave the place and headed North searching alternative places. We drove all day in positive temperatures with alternating precipitation between the rain and the snow. The more we moved North the snow cover had become thicker and thicker. Now we are staying in Central Poland and thinking on which direction to move further.

As of now, the weather forecast is BAD for all Europe. On places where we have sufficient ice thickness it will not be warm enough to melt the existing snow cover, neither will it be cold enough to form new ice. As of today, we don’t know of a single spot in Europe where we could run the European Championship.

We will do our best to find the right spot!

Please help in this and check out your neighboring lakes for ice, make an icereport and contact us. Both positive and the negative information is valuable. Based on that we can plan our route more effectively.

We travel so that the whole community doesn’t have to. We are doing our best to find the right spot for you guys!

Season Greetings

Dear Fellow Ice Sailors, Junior Iceboaters,

The holiday season is here and some lucky countries already have stable and sailable ice cover on their lakes and water reservoirs. Use this possibility to train as much as you can to get ready for big international events and perfectly trim your gear.

But do not forget in this busy season, that some deadlines to make duetime entry for the events are already on the doorstep:

  • 2nd January – submission of insurance cover for seniors
  • 6th January – regular online entry ends for the Senior EC
  • 15th January  – submission of insurance cover for juniors
  • 20th January – regular online entry ends for the Junior WC/EC

As today there are only 62 entries made for the senior event and only ONE for the juniors!!

Please take a few minutes and make the online entry as soon as possible to ease the life of the organizers and help to make successful icesailing events.

Entry Procedures for EC 2018 and Juniors EC/WC

Dear Sailors,

feel warmly welcome to the new season. The entry procedures are prepared and ready for start. Due to the temporary stop of IDNIYRA-Europe membership reorganization you will find the online entry like you were common with the last year. So there is nothing new to know. The IDNIYRA-Eu fee (45,-€ ) is charged within the online entry. The link to the modified NOR is also on the entry start page.

Note regarding the stopped member registration:
All payments (also double charging) are refunded by now. If you want to register on the website to get informations you can do this as before, BUT PLEASE take your sailnumber as your username (Capital letters-Number, like P-123, G-4, OE-345) The sailors (members) registered so far are still in and can log in. NOR EC 2019 (With Important Change!!)

Dear Fellow Icesailors,

Please find the Modified NOR for the 2019 DN European Championship and EuroCup.

We needed to make some changes in it because receiving a late warning from our lawyers and because of that, I decided to suspend the reorganization procedure in our European Community. Recently the lawyers are studying the case and hopefully will come up with a solution soon. It was just a warning and doesn’t mean that we did something illegal.

Unfortunately, we are now in time constrain because the NOR was already due to publish and the registration procedure will start within less than three weeks. Therefore as a temporary solution, we have to revert to the old system

INSURANCE IDs FOR EC 2019

Dear friends,

I started to assign the insurance-IDs for EC 2019 today.

Please keep in mind:

Insurances (or requests for a SEI) received until 02. January 2019; 24:00 (CET) will be checked for a regular entry – all later received insurances (or requests for SEI) will be checked and get an Insurance-ID to be able to make a Late-Entry without checking of the insurance at regatta-check-in.

Some Website Cleaning

Dear Iceboaters,

the next days I have to do some cleaning to prepare the new IDNIYRA-EU membership database.

  1. All advertisements older than 2 years will be deleted. If there are users who still want to have them active should setup new advertisements after 15th of Oct.
  2. Users already in the database not having a correct sail number as username or a clear name will not remain without membership rights, but only for this season as a transition period. Then They will be deleted before 15th of Oct.
  3. Users who already have their sail number as username will be deleted too. This is due to technical reasons, otherwise they are not able to signup for new membership. They can register anew with their sail number beginning 15th of Oct.

EU Membership Fee due soon

Dear Fellow Ice sailors,

 

You may have heard from your National Secretary that we have changed our European membership structure this summer. It was made by online vote after our Secretaries Meeting in Budapest.

In the new system there will be no more EU-Fee, but rather a European Membership Fee, which we promised to lower in order to let most of the European sailors to pay it and become a European Member with certain privileges even if they do not intend to participate in AC, EC or WC.

The decision made is read as follows:

“The European Membership Fee will be 25 EUR if paid until 31 October 2018, 24:00. Late payment after that deadline will be on double amount, i.e. 50 EUR.”

Because of some technical reasons, the timing had to be changed to the following:

 

  • Membership online-entry will go online on 15.10.2018 (Godie will setup a separate section in our website)
  • The fee to be paid until 01.12. is 25,- €, (this is the date when the registration for EC 2019 starts)
  • After that deadline, a double fee is to be paid, i.e. 50,- €

my personal opinion

Dear friends,

After the decision of our Commodore for the site of WC/EC 2018 confusing informations were posted  on this page (WC/EC Primary site update) and as far as I know in several social media by some sailors from Estonia, because they were not happy with the decision.

They explained how nice the ice would be in Estonia, how nice the weather forecast would be for Estonia ……

But at the end it came out that the decision of the Commodore was perfect, because in Estonia came more than too much snow and way too cold temperatures – we would not have sailed a meter.

I could not find any statement from the wrong guys about that.

The wrong information was just uncommented left.

I want to state out, that in my mind this is not fair to the commodore .

In my mind it would have been good sportsmanship to tell via the same media that the commodore was right – an apology I do not dare to expect.

Have a nice summer and please think about your postings.

Election of IDNIYRA EU Board Members

Dear Fellow Ice Sailors,

This year we need to elect the following Board members:
  • Commodore
  • Vice Commodore
  • Treasurer
  • Insurance Manager
All recent members are ready to continue their duty in the Board except the Vice Commodore, Maciej Brosz.
The Junior Program Manager, Jerzy Sukow also told me, that he intends to resign from his recent position.
Herewith I would like to thank Jerzy and Maciej for the great job they did for our community.
I would like to ask all of you if you have any candidates for the vacant positions do not hesitate to nominate them.
First of all we need
Vice Commodore – for 2-years term
Junior Program Manager – for 1-year replacement till the end of the original term.
But if you are not happy with the work done by any of the Board members or only want to see someone else on those positions, please feel free to make a suggestion.

On 10.03-11.03.2018 it is planned to hold Estonian Cup 4th stage for DN and Ice-Optimist. For Ice-Optimist it is also the Estonian Championship 2018.

Today is best place in Kaugatoma, Saaremaa.

On 09.03-11.03.2018 Monotype-XV is competing for Estonian Championship 2018 and Erik von Holst’s Cup.
