DN WC/EC 26 is just around the corner and we currently have several locations all over Europe that have good ice. As Poland is the Organising Country, and as Poland currently have good sailing conditions on several lakes I currently consider Poland the most likely venue for the regatta, but that being said other countries are not ruled out. With the help of Ice Scounts and my trusted weather expert team my plan is to keep monitoring various locations and give updates on a semi regular basis to start with, and closer to the event on a daily basis . Final site location will be given according to NoR no later than Friday, 2026.02.13 – 12:00 (CET) – (but hopefully sooner).
POLAND (Current Likelihood 90%)
Poland is the Organising Country and will be the place we go provided sailing conditions there stay as good as they are now.
Polish Ice scouts will be out on several lakes next weekend to check out Ice, Landingn sites, Accomodaiton facilities etc etc
Currently three locations stand out (in random order)
Ice Thickness: >25cm
Snow: Risk factor is that there is snow fall predicted on both Thursday 5th and Thursday 12th.

Snow: The snow that looks to arrive on Tue Feb 10 will most likely melt away prior the the regatta.
Other countries are not ruled out, but if conditions remain as good in Poland as they are now I see no reason not to go to Poland. But we all know how quickly the situation might change, so we rean open for anything from Lake Balaton in the South. To Sweden or Finland in the North as well as everything in between. The good news is that there is certainly no shortage of sailable ice all over Europe.CONCLUSION:
Based on the information I have to day I give the likelihood of WC/EC being sailed in:
Poland 90%
Other un known location 10%
NEXT UPDATE:
I will keep you updated if something dramatic occurs. If not, the next update will come after Polish Ice Scouts have had a chance to check out their venues during the weekend.
ACCOMODATION:
Lets wait and se.
According to the info I have been given all three above mentioned locations have an ample amount of acomodation options.
Info on where the Regatta Head Quarters will be located will be given in due time. Patience Please 🙂
